রিপোর্টার : Mizanur Rahman Liton Chattogram, December 14, 2025 — In a move aimed at strengthening investor confidence and encouraging new entrepreneurship in Bangladesh’s export-oriented garment sector, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has, for the first time, handed over new membership certificates from its Chattogram office.
At a formal ceremony held on Saturday, Seedling Fashion Limited received temporary BGMEA membership, while BTL Apparels Limited was awarded permanent membership, marking their official entry into the country’s organised and compliant readymade garment (RMG) export ecosystem.
The event was attended by BGMEA First Vice-President Selim Rahman, Vice-President Mohammad Rafiq Chowdhury, members of the board of directors, and Chairman of the Membership Standing Committee Wadud Md Chowdhury.
Speaking at the programme, BGMEA leaders said the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to decentralising services, facilitating business growth and creating a more dynamic and accessible pathway for new exporters, particularly in the Chattogram industrial belt, a key hub for the country’s export trade.
They noted that bringing membership services closer to entrepreneurs will reduce procedural delays, cut operational costs and accelerate factory formalisation, all of which are critical to attracting both local and foreign investment in the RMG sector.
“BGMEA has always stood beside its members. Our goal is to create a more open, efficient and future-ready export environment for emerging entrepreneurs,” a senior BGMEA official said.
Industry insiders view the move as a strategic step towards strengthening regional industrialisation, ensuring compliance and expanding export capacity, while also supporting job creation and foreign exchange earnings.
With Chattogram playing a vital role in logistics, port connectivity and manufacturing, the initiative is expected to enhance ease of doing business and reinforce Bangladesh’s position as a competitive global apparel sourcing destination, analysts said.
